Today we’re talking about how to run your business in flow. So, what is flow? Well, it’s simply described as an optimal state of consciousness when you feel and perform your best. So, it’s sort of when your productivity, creativity and personal happiness merge and explode. And, if you look back through your life, you will have had some experiences where you felt like you were on a major natural high or where you felt like you were so connected, focused and “in the zone”, and time just melted away and you were only in this moment.
I have experienced it many times throughout my life, a lot when I’ve been travelling; especially through Europe. (I mean Europe just dazzled me with its history and its culture and its food!) So, when I was there, I just immersed myself in it all and became literally high on life. I’ve also experienced it when I’ve been performing in front of an audience and when I was a camp leader at a summer camp in the USA, we had to really amp ourselves up and be super energetic to get the kids excited and participating.
Now, you’re probably wondering how the hell you get into flow. Now there’s many ways that you can do this, and I’ll link to a couple of articles below to help you understand that better. But for today, I’m going to talk to you about the three ways that I know how to get into flow, so you can learn how to use it and operate it in your business.
GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
A lot of flow comes from pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone and a good way to do that is by tackling the tasks and activities that you’re resisting doing. So, for example, let’s say the thing you’re resisting right now is selling your product because you don’t want to come off as spammy! And now let’s say that today you had planned to write a blog post to schedule for later this week that will probably mention one of your products. Because it’s not urgent, instead of doing that you could spend the day actively selling your product. You know, on social media, you could be sending multiple emails to your list, you could be adding banners and announcements to your website and incentivising your affiliates to go hard today. All those uncomfortable, scary things will actually have greater reward and will help to throw you right into flow.
WORK IN YOUR ZONE OF GENIUS
So, your zone of genius is your unique power! You’re so good at these things, these parts of your business, but more than that you absolutely love doing it. So that could be writing blog posts, it could be interacting with your audience in your Facebook Group, or it could be making videos. Now these activities give you the highest feeling of abundance and satisfaction so in order to get here, you need to know what you absolutely love doing in your business. But you also need to know what you hate doing! And once you know what you don’t like doing, you need to outsource and delegate those tasks to someone else so that you can only focus on what you love doing, which will send you straight into flow.
LISTEN TO YOUR INTUITION
So, this has been the most eye opening to me because it forced me to step back, stop listening to others, stop comparing myself, and stop getting side-tracked by shiny object syndrome! I was able to really tune into what my intuition was telling me to do for my business and then go the next step and actually do it. And once I focused on the things my intuition was telling me, I found myself operating in flow almost every single day. And it was effortless! Creative ideas were constantly coming to me and I became crazy productive, the bond between me and my audience became so much stronger and I became far less stressed while becoming far more trusting.
Now, of course you can’t be in a flow state all the time. What goes up, must come down. It’s a cycle. But the more you learn to work with it, you’re then able to access flow more regularly, which enables you to stay highly productive, creative, and happy. And isn’t that what we all want as business owners?
So, that is it from me today. I would love to hear from you now. Have you experienced being in a flow state? And, if so, how did you access it? And, thinking back about that, how can you apply that to your business today? Please share in the comments below!
