Today we’re talking about how you can nurture your list so that you can build a better connection with your audience and make a shitload more money.
So, I’m sure by now you have learnt how powerful an email list is. That’s going to be the main place that you make a lot of your money. Why? Because it is the best way to connect with your audience directly and this is the way that you can genuinely connect with your audience so that they feel like they’re being heard by you; they feel like they can relate to you. It’s quite a personal thing to have access to someone’s inbox so you need to treat it with respect.
Today I’m sharing with you my three tips on how you can nurture your email list.
TREAT IT LIKE ITS DATING
Because it actually is like dating. You know when you go on a first date with someone you don’t suddenly propose marriage. You know after like three minutes of knowing the person! You get to know them, you go on a couple more days and then you decide “you know I kinda want to see this person exclusively” and then you go from there. You don’t just like give it all in the first go. And that’s exactly what nurturing your email list is. It’s like a courting ritual.
They have to get to know you. You have to get to know them. You have to understand them. It’s like a back and forth, back and forth. You don’t just go in for the kill straight away. You need to treat it like it is dating. And how you do that is by being yourself. You talk to them as if you’re talking to a friend. How you would normally you talk to most people, because most of the time our target market, our ideal audience is usually us a couple of years ago. So, you know how talk to yourself! If you’re naturally funny, be funny. If you naturally goofy, be goofy. Don’t try and sound like some wannabe marketing guru. People are smart, they smell bullshit a mile away! Just be yourself. Treat it like it’s dating.
INTERACT WITH THEM
Ask them questions in your emails. Get them to reply to you. Literally say “hit reply and let me know about blah blah blah”. Ask them questions and say, “hit reply and let me know”. This is a really good way to actually start understanding the people who are in your audience. I’ve heard people share their life stories with me. The trials, the tribulations, the horrible things, the wonderful things that have happened to them. I’ve had them share their goals, their dreams, their opinions. When you ask someone for their opinion it actually makes them feel significant because you are asking them for advice. You are listening to them. You know every now and then I will ask my email list a question that I need help with and it makes that bond stronger.
But I didn’t do all that in like the first day of having them on my list, you know! This has taken weeks, months, maybe even years. Some of my readers have been with me even before I started House of Brazen. So yeah, make sure you’re interacting with them. Get them talking to you. Every time you send them say “hit reply and let me know”.
YOU GOTTA STAY CONSISTENT
Now, I haven’t been the best at being consistent throughout the years but now I’m kicking my own ass and I’m staying consistent. If you say you send weekly emails, send weekly emails. Let them learn to trust you, let them learn to rely on you, to show up when you say you’re going to show up. It’s just like dating you know. If you had a date and you planned it for like 8 p.m. On a Thursday and the guy shows up like 4 p.m. On a Sunday you’re going to be like, “yeah. No. I’m not going to go anywhere with you.”
It’s the same with your email list. You’ve got to take care of them because they’re real people who are invested in you and they’re your bread and butter. So, take care of these people; They should be the most important people to you. Not your traffic, not your social media followers. The people on your email list because they’re invested in you.
